Are you unsure about your current digital skills and what's essential for your future studies and career? Don't worry, we've got you covered! Join us for a session to help you take charge of your digital journey.

What are digital skills?

Digital skills are the skills you need to study and work in our fast-evolving digitally enabled world. Technology is constantly changing, and new technologies are emerging.  You need to have a strong digital skillset, and feel confident that you are capable to navigate through our constantly changing digital environment.   As you progress through University and for your future employment, digital skills will be an ongoing crucial part of your development. 

Digital skills are critical for your university education but even more so for your future employability.  

What digital skills should I have?

JISC researched the key digital skills for University students and we have mapped our technologies and training (workshops and online resources) onto these seven categories:

  • Digital proficiency & productivity
  • Digital creation, problem solving and innovation
  • Digital learning and development 
  • Information, data and media literacies 
  • Digital communication, collaboration and participation
  • Digital identity and wellbeing
  • Digital security
